Addons - News Archive

Update log for the defunct addons section.

Mystic - (09/20/2007):
It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that this section is a tad dead. While I still don't know what I plan to do about that, I don't want to hold up Chaos Zero 64's Vector WAD any more than it already is.

Submissions, in the meantime, are closed. My e-mail has been down for some time, so if you don't get any replies, that's why.

Mystic - (05/14/2007):
Well, a little bit of backlog here. Two contest packs, and a cool character WAD by Chaos Zero 64. Remember, people: If you don't submit it, it doesn't get added. Please check the Submission section for new information on how to get your WAD on this archive.

Mystic - (01/09/2007):
What? Another update within a month? Blasphemy. Basically a bunch of backlog. A few contest map packs, and some character WAD updates by Chaos Zero 64. I should be completely up to date now, so if you sent something in and it didn't get added, it either wasn't received or I lost it somehow.

Mystic - (12/17/2006):
For those that visit IRC, this will not be a surprise, but my e-mail went down for an extended period of time, and after that I picked up World of Warcraft. Hence, the complete lack of updates. To sorta make it up to you, Mystic Realm 4.4 is updated. Hopefully more interesting addons section updates will be coming soon.

If you sent something to the Addons section, I suggest you send it again. My e-mail was not working for a very long period of time, some of which was not able to be recovered at all.

Mystic - (08/20/2006):
1.09.4 is out, and it's about time. Large update with a ton of backlog. Contest entries uploaded, all the character WADs were updated for 1.09.4, some new multiplayer level packs, and an update to Acid Missile.

Also, Digiku finally released Botanic Serenity, which is probably the most detailed SRB2 map ever, and the first Nights map on the Addons section, so be sure to check it out.

Mystic - (05/10/2006):
Oops. I missed a few things. Uploaded some character WADs by Senku, and added a featured level for ree-c's contest winning map. If I missed your file, harass me via e-mail or IRC, and I'll get on it.

Mystic - (05/10/2006):
Contest WADs uploaded, as well as a Metal Knuckles WAD by Chaos Zero 64. I also added Tets' new single player level pack, Chaos Zone. It's still in beta stages, but there are enough levels there for a good amount of fun.

Mystic - (03/19/2006):
Mystic Realm v4.3 has been released. This fixes some things that have been annoying me for a while, such as breakable walls not being visible and some level design quirks.

Mystic - (03/08/2006):
Whoa. Two updates in one day? Shocking. Added the "Featured Addons" section, which will hopefully replace the old "Level of the Month" contest entry thing. If you won a Single Player contest, your map is eligible to be featured, so gimme an e-mail or whack me on IRC.

Mystic - (03/08/2006):
Everyone, you are now in for a treat. FuriousFox has released a beta of his upcoming single player level pack. Finally, Mystic Realm won't be the only thing in that category. Hopefully this will be a sign of things to come.

Other additions are the new contest maps. The Level of the Month section is gone, I plan to do a revamp to the contest winners section, but for now it's just non-existant. I also did the tedious work of making all the contest map WADs have their maps and scores listed where applicable, so you can see what's in the pack before downloading it.

Mystic - (03/01/2006):
Alrighty, first update in a GOOD while. Mystic Realm 4.2 is out, and has been for a while. I also uploaded three character WAD files. I also revamped the section a slight tad, so you might notice a few minor changes around.

On another note, however, I have cleared out my queue of backlog entries, I think. I say "I think" because I'm horribly disorganized. If you sent something in to the Addons section and have not received a reply with a rejection notice or had your file uploaded, please resend it. I'm sure something got eaten accidentally.

Mystic - (11/21/2005):
Two updates within 24 hours? Inconceivable! Mystic Realm has been updated to 4.1. This should hopefully fix some bugs.

Mystic - (11/20/2005):
Captain Procrastination is back with another update, delayed by, erm, a lot of laziness. Anyhow, there is a ton of new stuff up, so just go look around. If you submitted something that wasn't uploaded, resubmit, my e-mail was acting kinda wonky when I was doing the updating, so I wouldn't be surprised if more than just a few files got lost in there.

Mystic - (10/31/2005):
Sorry about the downtime. We should be back up now, but if you notice any 404s or something, say so.

Mystic - (10/14/2005):
Minor bugfix on Amy, as well as a life icon and end-level sign.

Mystic - (10/12/2005):
Donnyku created a new character WAD, Amy, by editing Sonic's sprite. It's quite neat, so give it a shot.

Mystic - (09/27/2005):
Donnyku updated the Shadow character WAD for 1.09, and it has been reuploaded.

Mystic - (09/20/2005):
There was a huge purge, as well as a few files added. All purged files can be downloaded in a 20 megabyte zip here. If your file was purged, simply resubmit to have it reuploaded on the next update (Obviously, make any alterations necessary if it doesn't work in 1.09.

Mystic - (09/11/2005):
SRB2 v1.09 is out, and we all know what that means: Mystic Realm 4 is now released.

Note that there will be a major upcoming purge of the Addons section, and I will be removing all the files that no longer work with 1.09. If your map needs updating, please update it and send it to me. The purge should happen in about a week, or even later if I'm busy. Obviously, you can easily have your file readded after it gets removed just like any other submission.

Enjoy Mystic Realm v4!

Mystic - (08/18/2005):
Captain Procrastination is back with some new content for you all. The May/June contest stages have been uploaded, and we also have a new multiplayer level pack by Digiku. Be sure to try the new single player content, as some of it is top-notch.

Mystic - (05/12/2005):
Small update today, but included is a lot of content. We've got two new Single Player stages, as well as the last two contest's level packs. I also uploaded a match stage by Ritz. Have fun. Tets has also updated his 3-act zone, Poisoned Paradise, so check out the update.

Mystic - (04/10/2005):
Bunch of random stuff today. 2 character WADs, 6 match stages, a capture the flag map, and a single player stage for your enjoyment today. Sorry about the delays...I'm a slacker and I know it ^_^()

Mystic - (01/25/2005):
Today's a biggie. 23 new files, including 18 match stages, 3 capture the flag stages, 1 new multiplayer level pack, and a new single player stage. There is a ton of content here, and even those of you who have played the December contest maps to death should enjoy FuriousFox's new single player stage. Give it all a look.

Mystic - (12/13/2004):
Random update. A new 1 Player 2D map and a match stage. Enjoy.

Mystic - (09/08/2004):
Due to unknown issues, my computer pretty much died and needed a reformat. Most data was correctly saved, however, my inbox was not. If you have submitted a WAD since the last time the website was updated, please resubmit. Sorry for the inconvenience. As for the update, only minor bugfixes were addressed.

Mystic - (07/20/2004):
The laziness-delayed update is finally here. Lots of new stuff, so just check it out. I also fixed several factual errors and busted links, so if you were trying to get something, it should work now.

Mystic - (05/24/2004):
Uploaded the new Poisoned Paradise by Tets. It now has 3 acts, so check it out.

Mystic - (04/02/2004):
As 40 people apparently already know, yesterday's "April Fools" was in fact the April Fool. The Shadow WAD is real. I apparently got a few of you at least.

Mystic - (04/01/2004):
Well, thanks to Donnyku, you guys finally have something you've been asking for for a very long time. Donnyku has edited SRB2's Sonic sprite into a playable (and rather good looking) Shadow, from SA2.

I also added the February contest levels, which are exceedingly overdue. Sorry about that

Mystic - (02/08/2004):
Added the deathmatch levels from January's contest, as well as adding Tets' entry to the level of the month.

Mystic - (01/09/2004):
Added three single player levels from December's contest. Also, I added an updated version of Corridor Clash, one of Tets' DM levels. Enjoy.

Mystic - (01/06/2004):
Added a multiplayer level pack from a441's contest. It has 4 new match levels, so give it a shot.

Mystic - (01/02/2004):
Well it's about time I give you guys a new launcher version. This one has been tinkered with a lot, and features a lot more stuff, namely the ability to customize netgames more from the launcher. Also, a lot of stuff has been cleaned up, and the dsecription box has more information than before. Enjoy ^_^

Mystic - (01/01/2004):
Happy New Years! To celebrate, along with 1.08, I have a new Single Player zone for you all. As well, I've got the brand new Mystic Realm v.3.0, with a TON more stuff, including new music and a revamped Verdant Forest and Final Zone. Enjoy!

I also fixed a goof on the reorganization in two of the CTF levels, Turmoil Waters and Stone Walkway. The order should have been mtfa, not mtaf. I can't even adhere to my own format, apparently =P

Mystic - (12/14/2003):
Welcome to the new and improved Addons section. All of the files have been renamed to conform to the new standard, and all of the multiplayer stages have been moved to MAP01. The underlying PHP script has been updated by a441, and there are a ton of new files for download. Although you can't see it, the whole site is also a ton cleaner under the hood, and is much more organized.

Because of the fact that all of the levels have to have the new filename for them to work in multiplayer, you can download this zip (6.7 MB), which contains all the WADs on the website up to this point. I will take it down after a week or so, because I don't want to totally ruin Sepwich's bandwidth. Henceforth, please don't download this file unless you already have everything, and just need to rename everything.

Another thing I'd like to address is descriptions. Many files on the site have no description. Please, for your own good, write a description for your file when you send it. I'm tired of running after people on IRC for descriptions, and if they were included with the file, it would help me greatly. Not to mention levels with descriptions will often get more downloads, anyhow.

Finally, the level design contests have been an astounding success, and I hope that we continue to have such incredible turnout in the future, especially when we start going into Single Player stages.

Enjoy the new site, and I will look forward to the submissions in the future.

Mystic - (11/23/2003):
Very small update. Loopy Tunnel Zone won the September contest, so I added it to the Level of the Month page. Hopefully, with the board up again, we'll get more consistant new content, and I've got something interesting planned for the December contest, which most all of you will enjoy, except maybe for the level designers. =P

Mystic - (10/26/2003):
Bad news, good news time. The bad news is that Sepwich died and all data was lost. This means all the download counters have once again been reset back to zero. The good news is to celebrate my space's return, we've got 5 new Battle and 5 new CTF stages, for a total of 10 new stages. a441 updated 4 of my old maps to work with Final Demo, so that gives you even more new content to work with. I also got a new version of the script the site runs on from a441, so the code now works better. Enjoy!

Mystic - (09/29/2003):
What? Another update? Not really, actually. Just updating the PHP script the site runs under. You can see some pictures of new stuff on the forum here, however, so you can see I'm not TOTALLY sitting around doing nothing.

Mystic - (09/24/2003):
Stunning efficiency at work, folks...4 new Battle maps from last month's contest. I don't know why I've been so damn slow at updating, but they're there now, so enjoy.

Mystic - (08/23/2003):
Large update to the Battle section. 5 new maps for you to sink your teeth into. Also, introducing the new Level of the Month section, where the winning maps of the monthly contests will go. Transcendental Fort Zone by a441 is the first map to win this honor. Hopefully we will have many more maps to follow.

Mystic - (08/15/2003):
Fixed a VERY interesting bug involving the PHP script. Somehow the download counter's CHMOD changed on its own, making the script not have permission to access the files the counters are stored as. Hence, the old Sepwich 404 was coming up because access was denied. Oops.

Mystic - (07/08/2003):
Added a new DM stage by a441.

Mystic - (07/04/2003):
Added a new DM stage by Digiku. This one probably has the distinction of having the longest description EVER. =P

Mystic - (07/02/2003):
Updated the WCF file for Final Demo. The new version can be found in the Files section.

Mystic - (07/01/2003):
Uploaded a new DM stage, Sapphire Falls Zone. Was intended for a441's contest, but I kinda screwed up on the textures, as the bridge wasn't in the list.

Mystic - (06/30/2003):
Well, a nice size update today. Two DM levels by me, one by Blaze, and two by Tetsuo, and the new Flame Rift Zone. I updated Mystic Level Pack, giving it a decent name, and an ancient Demo 3 map to boot.

Also, the newcomer [Guido-Anchovy] created a VERY nice Mario skin for use, as well, so check that out.

Mystic - (06/21/2003):
Blaze has created a little WAD that makes SRB2 play like Sonic Adventure. Grab it in the Miscellaneous WAD section.

Mystic - (06/20/2003):
Oops. I goofed. Thanks to me forgetting about a last-minute change in the srb2.srb file, the Final Zone in my level pack kinda turned cloudy instead of a starry background. Dope X_X

Anyhow, I fixed it, and you can download it from the Major Alteration WAD section. I hope to see more of those ^_^

Mystic - (06/19/2003):
Final Demo is out. More stuff than I'd prefer to write here, so just look for yourself.

Mystic - (03/19/2003):
Two updates in one month? Say it isn't so!

A buncha new maps, two by a441, two by me, and one old map that I fixed up. I also added a section explaining the basic console commands to the menu, because I've gotten a lot of questions about it.

Mystic - (03/09/2003):
SAGE is here. That means new demo. That means new content.

*everyone cheers*

The new zones are up in the Single Player section, and the new SRB2 Launcher and WCF are up for people who want them.

Have fun!

Mystic - (02/13/2003):
What? An update? I don't think that's possible.

As you probably know, the SSRG, the host of this section, is now permanently out of commission. We were down for a bit as we moved this section over to Sepwich. All of the download counts are reset back to zero because of this, and there is no way to retrieve them with the whole of SSRG completely wiped. Also, for a time, the files section links still pointed to the SSRG, because I had the files in a different directory from the SRB2WAD site. All the links have now been fixed and repointed, so we should be fine, unless Sepwich dies without warning ^_~

Also, a441 has provided us with some actual new content *gasps heard throughout site*. It is a time attack level which actually provides some interesting gameplay, so check it out, and don't forget to use the high-resolution timer to get more accurate time attack displays.

In case anyone is curious about the levels I have set for final demo, yes, VFZ and CSZ are still here on my hard drive, ready to release, but I still cannot until Final Demo gets released. Also, there are some new DM stages in the new demo, as well as reworkings of old stages so I can use them for chaos mode. You'll probably recognize a few of the new maps if you've been around here a while =P

Anyways, enjoy the new level, and hopefully I'll get lots more stuff when Final Demo comes out that ISN'T mine *nudges WAD designers*

Mystic - (10/03/2002):
Wow. This section is getting updated even less than the main site X_X. I added more previews of what is to come in Final Demo, so you can all drool in unison =P

You can view the new screenshots here.

Mystic - (08/20/2002):
Large update today. The layout has been changed drastically, including a new PHP script from a441 to handle the new demo release that is impending. The updates are now on the main page, which will help a bit in allowing you to tell if I've actually updated this site. The FAQ section was updated to deal with a few nagging questions. I also uploaded a441's new DM map, Color Beams.

For those of you waiting for new levels to try, there are new levels being made, but the bar has been raised by AGZ 8 months ago, so everyone who makes regular SP stages now tends to make full 3 act zones, which means that although they're more fun to play, they do take longer to make.

Finally, I have now completed my new zone, now finally named Verdant Forest Zone. Although it is complete, it uses some features that won't exist until Demo 4.5 is released to the public, so you'll have to wait until then to play it. You can look at some screenshots of a slightly older copy here if you want.

Mystic - (07/24/2002):
Did a slight reorganization to deal with the immense number of questions I have received asking how to get the addons to work. Now there is a FAQ and a Files section to help those who can't get them to work on their own.

Mystic - (07/22/2002):
Added Jackel's Boss1 Level.

Mystic - (07/21/2002):
Added a lot of misc. WADs thanks to sean1w2 and DOHlberg.
Also uploaded a fix to Emerald Lagoon Zone, since hard mode isn't possible in the version they gave me X_X

Mystic - (07/14/2002):
Added Rlan's Coconuts character.

Mystic - (07/13/2002):
Added Jackel's comments and his Metallix character.

Mystic - (07/12/2002):
Linked from srb2.org. Site is now officially launched.

Mystic - (07/09/2002):
Added a441's CGI script for sorting the WAD files. This should definately help when the submissions start.

Mystic - (07/07/2002):
Launched the WAD section of the site. Placed everything there. Blah. Blah.
